A rare opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Speech & Language Therapist to join our dynamic acute stroke team, based at the Lister Hospital, Stevenage.

This post attracts a 'Golden Hello' payment of £500 upon starting and £500 on completion of successful probation period

in accordance with 'Golden Hello' scheme guidance. Please note that the Golden Hello is not available to internal applicants.

The role will be working within the Stroke Speech & Language Therapy team in an Acute setting, based in our SSNAP 'A' rated HASU Stroke Unit at the Lister Hospital in Stevenage.

Dysphagia competencies are a requirement of the role and experience of managing dysphagia is essential. You will have an opportunity to extend your Videofluoroscopy competencies as our team run regular Videofluoroscopy clinics. You will be working alongside a Specialist Stroke MDT, including: Psychologists; Dieticians; Physiotherapists; Occupational Therapists; Consultants and Nurses.

The role includes opportunities for supervision and training, as you will be working alongside a Speech and Language Therapy Assistant, newly qualified Speech Therapists and our service regularly supports students from nearby universities.

You will be joining a highly experienced team of Speech and Language Therapists who work innovatively across acute, community and neurological rehabilitation settings. There are frequent opportunities for career advancement and development posts within our service, and we cover a wide range of specialisms including: Progressive Neurological Conditions, Acute Brain Injury, Stroke, Head & Neck, Voice, Dysfluency and Mental Health.
