Teaching Fellow in Simulation Training

An exciting job opportunity has arisen within the Education department at the North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust for a Teaching Fellow in Simulation Training. This is to support the Trust’s aim to enhance patient safety through interprofessional simulation training, with emphasis on team working skills for undergraduate students, junior Doctors and other departments within the Trust.

We wish to appoint an enthusiastic doctor to develop the use of simulation in different training contexts. The Trust aims to develop and enable clinical leaders from all disciplines to lead a culture of patient safety that is integral to organisational business.

It is anticipated that this post will be held for one year and could combine limited clinical duties with the opportunity to undertake research, development and teaching in simulation based training. The post holder will be post MRCP or equivalent for their speciality and may contribute to the middle grade on call rota subject to mutual agreement with the relevant clinical directorate. They will hold at least a Certificate in Clinical Education (or equivalent) and must be prepared to work towards a higher qualification based on their work in the department, which will be funded by the Directorate of Education and Organisational Development.

The Trust has invested in a new simulation suite within the Education, led by a Simulation Tutor and with support from Simulation & Resuscitation Officers, a simulation technician, and existing administration staff. The primary aim of this new development is to enhance patient safety through simulation training for interprofessional teams. This will also support the Trust’s work to address NCPOD recommendations for managing the deteriorating patient.

Employment is offered under Medical and Dental terms and conditions. Applicants must be fully registered with the General Medical Council (London).
