Jonathan Higman, Chief Executive

Yeovil District Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, situated on the Somerset/Dorset border, is a high achieving forward thinking acute Trust and is working with other Acute Hospitals, Primary Care, the CCG, Community Services and Social Care to improve the way that health and social care is delivered in Somerset. We have just scored highest in the Country for staff health and well being in the recent NHS survey.

The Therapy Department is held in high regard within the hospital, and has a good track record of service developments and innovative ways of working to provide high quality and efficient services to all our patients. All of our staff are supported by a committed team of highly specialised clinical therapists, with close supervision, regular in-service training, funding for external courses and close post graduate links with Plymouth, UWE and Bournemouth Universities.

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Physiotherapist to join our Band 6 Physiotherapist speciality rotational scheme. The post holder will potentially rotate between the clinical areas of: Respiratory, Frailty, Medical Rehab, Neurology (including stroke and neuro outpatient and inpatients), Home First (D2A pathways), Admission Avoidance and Trauma & Orthopaedics (elective and trauma).

We are looking for an enthusiastic Physiotherapist who has wide ranging post graduate Physiotherapy experience with good communication and interpersonal skills to join our dynamic team. Working alongside Highly Specialist Senior Physiotherapists and Clinical Leads, you will be encouraged and supported to develop your clinical, teaching and service development skills. You will be competent in your ability to comprehensively assess patients that present with a wide range of conditions. To facilitate this, you will have a broad theoretical knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathology that, when underpinned by established clinical reasoning skills, will allow you to formulate appropriate individualised management plans.

You will be supported in developing these Physiotherapy skills by the appropriate Specialty Leads and encouraged in your professional development from a large and supportive therapy team. At Yeovil District Hospital NHS Foundation Trust we value the importance of professional development, training and high quality clinical supervision for all our staff.

The successful candidate will be comfortable working within a team but also happy to work as an autonomous practitioner who is dedicated to providing the highest standard of clinical care for their patients.

Continuing professional development is encouraged through the appraisal system and there is a well-established in service education programme. Attendance at post registration courses is supported.

Tier 2 Certificate of Sponsorship

Applications from job seekers who require current Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the current Resident Labour Market Test which will be in place until the end of December 2020. UK Visas and Immigration requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit the UK Visas and Immigration website.

From 6 April 2017, Tier 2 skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, have had to present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Adult dependants (over 18 years old) are also subject to this requirement.
