Are you professional and highly motivated with a drive for delivering excellent dental care? Are you looking to move into an exciting and rewarding role? If the answer is yes, you would be well-suited to the Band 5 Civilian Dental Hygienist role we have available at Dental Centre RAF Wittering.

You would be providing clinical and administrative support for the provision of dental care in Defence Primary Health Care (DPHC) Dental Centres (DC), to enhance force generation and operational capability and minimise dental morbidity on operations.

Duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Carrying out dental work under the direction of a registered dentist who has examined the patient and indicated in writing the course of treatment to be provided. This is in accordance with the Dental Auxiliary Regulations 1986, as amended by the Dental Auxiliaries (amended) Regulations 1991.
  • Ensuring all IT equipment is logged off and the surgery is properly secured at times where no staff are present.
  • Managing the patient appointment system as required.
  • Ensuring their surgery is prepared appropriately for the day’s patients in accordance with current regulations.
  • Ensuring a daily test radiograph is taken and processed with all findings reported in accordance with extant policies and countersigned by a clinician or trained individual.
  • Cleaning, disinfecting, sterilising and where required, pack instruments after each patient, ensuring Integrated Pollution Control (IPC) protocols are always followed.

A Full UK driving license is required, as regular working from other local military dental centres will be expected.

The successful candidate must have knowledge of a range of oral health procedures; acquired through training to degree level or to diploma level plus experience to degree equivalent level.

Registered member of the General Dental Council (GDC).

Please note the salary will be pro-rata where part time hours are undertaken.

Please be aware that if you are found successful you will be asked to provide evidence of your immunity to Hepatitis B.

Successful candidates must meet the security requirements before they can be appointed. The level of security needed is security check.
