Our mission is to make healthcare better for everyone that lives in BNSSG. We will do this by putting people’s needs at the heart of our decision making and ensuring that the voice of local people shapes what we do as we seek to get the very best value from the resources we have available.

The values of our organisation are:

A great opportunity within the BNSSG (Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire) Referral Service have arisen, to be part of a growing team delivering an innovative service for patients and local GPs. The Referral Service has been gradually expanding and rolling out its support to cover South Gloucestershire practices since spring last year and is hoping to support all GP practices in BNSSG during the course of next six to nine months. The service is staffed by a team of highly skilled and trained administrators and local clinicians who are responsible for ensuring that all GP referrals to secondary care are directed to the most appropriate service for the patient first time.

The referral administrator is responsible for all administrative elements of the referral management and triage process which requires working in a swift and professional manner to ensure the GP triager’s time is used to focus on clinical, not administrative tasks. The team supports practices and patients with the hospital appointment booking system, E-Referral and any referral queries or problems. The referral administrator will offer support with the Choose and Book process by responding to enquiries and performing regular quality checks. Being part of an innovative service means you will need to be very flexible, both in your attitude to your daily work and in very practical ways. You will be willing to learn new ways of working, have a strong clerical, customer-focused background, with significant experience of working in an office environment and of dealing with the public. Excellent knowledge of Microsoft office computer systems and an eye for detail is essential and knowledge of the NHS E-Referral system and experience of working in the NHS is essential.
