The Trust is recognised internationally for its work in liver disease and transplantation, neurosciences, cardiac, haemato-oncology, fetal medicine, stroke, major trauma, and Emergency Department.

A very exciting opportunity has arisen within the Therapies service at King’s for a clinician with strong leadership skills & experience to manage outpatient physiotherapy services across the Trust’s 5 sites.

King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust provides outpatient physiotherapy services to the following specialities: Musculoskeletal; Orthopaedic MCATS; Paediatrics; Respiratory; Neurological Rehabilitation; Women’s Health and other specialist services to a large population across Lambeth, Southwark, Bromley and beyond. The Trust serves the local populations of the above Boroughs and is a regional centre for tertiary services in several specialty areas.

You will report directly to the Head of Physiotherapy and will provide professional and operational leadership to staff working in all KCH physiotherapy outpatient services including line management to senior staff. You will be responsible for the day to day performance of the services and deliver innovative and transformative service development whilst working collaboratively within the physiotherapy leadership team which includes Consultant Physiotherapists. There will be opportunities to work closely with Commissioners in the new South East London Integrated Care System and have influence over future service design for the sector.

You will be directly responsible for the quality and performance of outpatient physiotherapy services as well as their clinical and operational governance. Using advanced clinical reasoning skills you will be a clinician maintaining a clinical caseload in your own area of specialty as an autonomous practitioner. You will provide specialist support, advice and education to the physiotherapy team in your specialist field and use clinical knowledge and rationale to advise other clinical specialties within remit. You will have one site base but will be required to work across all Trust sites where services are located

You will be encouraged and supported to develop your leadership, clinical, teaching, and research skills.

At King’s we are extremely proud of our skilled, hardworking and innovative physiotherapy workforce. King’s College NHS Foundation Trust has a large Therapy department sitting within the Therapies Rehabilitation and Integrated Care (TRICS) Care Group. The Care Group is 500+ staff from Physiotherapy; Occupational Therapy; Speech and Language Therapy; Nutrition and Dietetics; Psychology; Social Work and Discharge Coordinators. Each service is organised under a Head of Profession with the Chief of Therapies, Rehabilitation and Integrated Care leading the Care Group and representing Therapies and other professions across the Trust. The Care Group has well-established traditions of supporting staff to develop skills and knowledge to reach their full potential. King’s offers an excellent learning environment with easy access to the Medical School library, and other training facilities.

You must have a degree or equivalent in Physiotherapy, and registration with the Health Care Professions Council is essential for this post.
