Applications are invited for the post of Consultant Nephrologist based at University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff.

This post will support and develop existing renal services across South East Wales and will transition into the lead for Renal IT systems over a two-year period with support from the current lead for Renal IT systems.

We have outreach services in Newport, Pontypool, Abergavenny, Ebbw Vale, Merthyr and Llantrisant covering a population of approximately 1.4 million. There is a 1 in 10 commitment to the nephrology on-call rota at the University Hospital of Wales.

Renal services in South East Wales are centred in the Nephrology & Transplant Directorate at University Hospital of Wales. We deliver Renal Replacement Therapy to approximately 600 haemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis patients across the region. This includes an active Home Haemodialysis Programme, already one of the largest in the United Kingdom, which we intend to develop further. You will be joining a friendly, dedicated team.

Applicants should either be on the Specialist Register or be a Specialist Registrar within six months of their expected date of receipt of a CCT / CESR(CP) at the time of interview.

You will be able to take advantage of the excellent Consultant contract for Wales. The basic salary range for this post is £77,779 per annum to £100,978 per annum plus a further £26,672 per annum available in Commitment Awards.

Applicants must ensure they provide the names and contact details of referees covering at least the last three years of their employment/training history in full. In addition, applicants who are currently or have most recently been employed as a substantive Consultant or as a Locum Consultant in post for more than 12 months must also provide the name of their Medical Director as an additional referee.
