An opportunity has arisen for a band 6 Occupational Therapist to work within the Community Mental Health Team for Older Adults based in Louth and Skegness.. This specialist service works with people with both functional and organic illness, and is an ideal opportunity for the post holder to develop a range of Occupational Therapy skills.

We are looking for an Occupational Therapist (OT) with expertise in older persons care. Applicants will require knowledge and experience of managing complex mental health needs relating to dementia and acute mental health needs. This will include assessment and delivery of both 1:1 and group interventions, it is also necessary to have knowledge of older people’s physical health problems.

The successful applicant will be a team player, who is flexible and resourceful and keen to demonstrate the distinctive contribution and added value that occupational therapists can offer the multi-disciplinary team. You will need to possess excellent communication skills and demonstrate a genuine interest in achieving positive outcomes for older people in our service.

You will be responsible for providing specialist assessment and intervention and delivering an occupation focused service in both a 1:1 and group basis. In addition you will be required to work within a team providing Cognitive Stimulation Therapy and Recovery Through Activity programmes in the community.

The OTs within the Trust use the Model of Human Occupation to shape assessments and overall approach, however knowledge of the Cognitive Disability Model will be beneficial in this setting
Continuous Professional Development and regular professional supervision are a priority for the Trust. You will receive regular supervision working within this role.

We offer 24 hour services within our Inpatient, Crisis and SPA teams, if you are successfully appointed to posts in these areas or others that might have specified, you will be required to work unsociable hours and shift patterns.

Preference will be given to NHS colleagues who are currently 'at risk' and meet the minimum criteria of the Job Description & Person Specification.
