Temporary Appointments: If you are external to the Civil Service, you will take up the post on a Fixed Term appointment, if you are an existing Civil Servant, based outside of PHE, you will take up the post as a loan and if you are an existing PHE member of staff, you will take up the post as either a level transfer or a temporary promotion as per PHE’s Pay and Grading policy. If you are an existing Civil Servant, (in PHE or elsewhere) you must have prior agreement from your Line Manager before applying for this post.


An opportunity has arisen for a Screening Data Manager within the English Screening Programmes. The successful candidate will support the National Screening Data and Information Lead, and Screening Programme Managers to deliver an effective data and information service to the Antenatal and Newborn (ANNB) Screening Programmes.

Job Purpose / Summary

The post-holder will be highly numerate, and have proven analytical, data management and statistical skills, and the ability to apply analytical techniques to issues faced by screening services. They will work within a dynamic team to provide information management and analytical support. This includes collecting, collating, analysing/interpreting, publishing and presenting screening data to evaluate the operational functionality of one or more screening programmes.

The post holder will focus mainly on Antenatal and Newborn Screening programmes, and is likely to be aligned to one or more screening programmes, on which they are expected to have expert knowledge and experience. The post holder will also work collaboratively across all screening programmes and support and deputise for other data managers as required.

We are looking for an enthusiastic person with a high level of motivation, a positive attitude and who has extensive proven experience at an equivalent or similar level of working with multiple sets of health related data and information systems.
