Clinical/Counselling Psychologist/Psychological Therapist Band 7 – 1.0 wte

Do you have a strong interest in Psychosis? A commitment to supporting personal and clinical recovery? The skills to facilitate transition between inpatient care and independent living? Interested in pursuing this in beautiful Devon?

The Russell Clinic in Exeter is transforming in 2020 into a recovery-focussed in-reach and outreach care service for men living with psychosis. To support and develop psychological provision into the unit and promote a psychologically informed environment, we are looking to recruit a fulltime (37.5 hours/week) Band 7 Clinical/Counselling Psychologist or Psychological Therapist on a permanent contract with Devon Partnership NHS Trust.

The post will be based on the Russell Clinic and will be focused on providing psychological assessment for all residents and recovery-based psychological interventions to residents on the unit and in their outreach phase. The successful applicant will have an essential function of working collaboratively with the MDT Ward Team to inform care planning and support the team to develop more psychologically-informed understandings of the residents.

The successful candidate will work with our Adult Acute Psychology Principal Clinical Psychologists and our Professional Lead to support the continuing development of our psychology provision and work in close collaboration with the multi-disciplinary Inpatient team on the Russell Clinic. There is scope for the post-holder to undertake some work on the Adult Acute Acute units in Exeter depending on the requirements of Russell Clinic.

Qualification in CBTp and Family Interventions for Psychosis (FiP) are desirable. You will be managed within the EEM (Exeter, East, and Mid) Devon Psychology and Psychological Therapies Service by the Professional Lead for Adult Acute Psychology and will join the broader EEM Devon Psychology and Psychological Therapies Team. EEM Devon Psychology and Psychological Therapies Service is a friendly and active team, providing a range of in-patient and community services including Perinatal/MBU Services, Older Adult Mental Health, Adult Mental Health, and Early Interventions in Psychosis. There will be opportunities to meet with the other Psychology staff who work in EEM Devon for staff forums and CPD events.

We currently have strong relationships with the CBTp programme at Exeter University and Psychology and Psychological Therapies Service (P&PT) supports close links between psychology staff and the two local DClinPsy training courses. The acute units will be opening to Trainees from next year. We also currently provide placements for Counselling Psychology Trainees.
