Job title 8a Clinical/Counselling Psychologist 2 posts: 0.5fte Acute Inpatient; 0.5fte Psych Liaison (offered as separate half time posts or together)

We are very pleased to advertise two Clinical/Counselling Psychologist 8a posts within the Acute Inpatient and Psych Liaison services in Newham. The two posts are 0.5fte each, but we are keen to offer these as a combined full time commitment as well as distinct jobs.

We are looking for enthusiastic and innovative individuals who are keen to bring psychological approaches to service users and multi-disciplinary teams within fast-paced and complex services, taking into consideration the highly diverse population within Newham. The successful applicant will be someone who values and enjoys multi-disciplinary team working and indirect work, alongside having direct clinical experience of working with people with complex mental health, co-morbid presentations and medically unexplained symptoms (MUS).

Both posts have strong links to the wider secondary care psychology service with active CPD opportunities.

0.5fte 8a Clinical/Counselling Psychologist post on Opal Ward at Newham Centre for Mental Health.

The post holder will be joining a well established and embedded acute psychology service, offering direct input to Opal Ward. Opal Ward functions as an acute adult inpatient ward for male service users from the south areas in the borough of Newham. The acute psychological services mission is to provide a high quality service for people presenting in crisis, who may be at risk to themselves and/or others and may experience severe and enduring mental health needs by working in active partnership with service users, carers and other organisations.

0.5fte 8a Clinical/Counselling Psychologist post in Psych Liaison at Newham General Hospital.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist as part of the innovative Mental Health Extended Crisis Service in Newham. The post holder would be primarily based within the existing Psych Liaison team, whilst also working closely with other senior psychologists across the wider Extended Crisis Service. The Psych Liaison team provides mental health assessment to patients who attend the A&E department and to inpatients at Newham University Hospital

The successful applicant will join an established and integrated psychology presence within the Crisis Service and will be supported by the wider psychology team and lead psychologist for the service. The post requires someone who likes working flexibly and creatively whilst forming good links with colleagues and local services.
