HMP Humber is a male category C resettlement prison, situated just outside of the East Riding of Yorkshire’s village, South Cave. The location boasts excellent travel links, with the A63 and the M62 being less than a 10 minute drive away. Hull, The UK city of culture 2017 is just 20 minutes away, with Doncaster, York and Leeds all being less than an hour’s drive away.The area is also served by good public transport links, with a bus stop being within metres of the prison entrance, and the nearest railway station less than 5 miles away.

CHCP CIC currently provides integrated offender healthcare services across HMP Hull and HMP Humber. We deliver a community-based model, bringing clinical expertise to the patients in our care, working closely with the multi-agency workforce. We are currently looking for a band 6 Senior Practitioner to join our Primary care team, and in return we can offer fantastic opportunities in professional development and training.


If you’re looking for a varied, challenging and satisfying role, this is the one for you. In a typical day, the Offender health Primary care senior practitioner will carry out a variety of health interventions, such as Health screening, Emergency response and first aid, medication administration, wound care and wound closure, ECG’s and phlebotomy. Dependent upon the background / qualifications held by the successful candidate, you may specialize in the management of Minor Illness, Minor injuries and emergency care / Urgent care provision, or alternatively you may hold an interest in the provision of specialist clinics, such as sexual health, infectious disease management, vaccinations and Long term condition management.

As a senior practitioner, you will be a positive and motivated role model. You will provide leadership to the team through effective shift coordination, and you will play an active part in service improvement through the use of clinical governance and evidence based coordinated care. You will work in close partnership with the other senior practitioners from the Mental health and Drug and alcohol recovery team, to ensure that an integrated and seamless service is provided. You will be expected to deputize for the Primary care Clinical team leader in her absence, and liaise closely to maintain positive working relationships with our Prison Service colleagues.

As the successful candidate, you will be a registered Nurse or Paramedic with relevant knowledge and experience to suit the role. You must also be open to learning and developing your skills and competencies, with the full support of the Offender health leadership team and the CHCP Learning resources and development team.
