We have 3 exciting opportunities for a Band 3 Support Medical Secretary to join one of our Secretarial teams within the Division of Medicine.

Current posts available:

1 x Part Time 22.5 Hours within the Cardiology Secretariat, days of work will be Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.

1 x Part Time 26 Hours within the Oncology Secretariat, days of work will be Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday (or over 5 days)

1 x Full Time within the Emergency Department Secretariat.

The Support Medical Secretary role is a highly diverse, demanding but rewarding role, working as part of a friendly, dynamic team. It is essential that the successful applicant has proven medical secretarial experience, the ability to type to a high standard and desire to develop and learn new skills and competencies. The successful candidate will have the confidence and enthusiasm to take on the challenges of this role and experience to manage a high workload. Applicants must be organised, have the ability to work under their own initiative and able to prioritise a competing workload.

Applicants must have a flexible approach to working practices; have excellent touch typing/word processing and IT skills and the demonstrable ability to work effectively as part of a team. Knowledge of medical terminology is a preferred requirement, as is secretarial experience in a clinical environment, as defined in the person specification, along with excellent verbal and written communication skills.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the team in managing clinical pathways, booking and scheduling patient appointments, typing clinics, dealing with telephone queries, managing and administrating results, dealing with post and supporting the delivery of the RTT targets for the department; in accordance with National and Trust guidelines. Flexible working may be required in order to meet the needs of the service.
