A vacancy for a Senior Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist Band 8a has arisen in the forward thinking City & Hackney Specialist Psychotherapy Service based at Vivienne Cohen House, 2 Crozier Terrace, London E9 6AT. This service is part of the East London NHS Foundation Trust offering assessment and psychological therapy to service users with complex, chronic and often comorbid presentations, including treatment resistant depression, anxiety disorders, PTSD, complex trauma and Personality Disorder. A number of treatment modalities are offered within the service including cognitive analytic, cognitive behavioural, psychodynamic, individual, group, couple and family therapies, as well as more intensive programmes for individuals with Personality Disorder that are delivered according to a Mentalisation-Based Treatment model.

The role will involve provision of CBT assessment and treatment as an experienced clinician and provision of clinical supervision of staff treating patients with complex, chronic and co-morbid mental health difficulties. Knowledge and experience of treating patients with PTSD using trauma-focused treatments is essential.
The role will also require additional skills and experience in service development initiatives. This may include: training, service user involvement, Quality Improvement and developing and implementing new treatments and services within the team.
The postholder will, as part of the senior clinical team, be expected to engage in service management tasks as required and represent the service at Trust-wide and possibly external meetings and forums.

The successful candidate will be an experienced clinician with either a core professional mental health qualification or equivalent, have additional post-graduate training in CBT/REBT and professional accreditation with the BABCP and registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) or registered by a body overseen or accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

We are looking for an energetic, motivated, flexible and creative clinician with experience working as a mental health professional with theoretical, clinical and practical knowledge of delivering CBT within an NHS context.
