As a result of the expansion of our team, an opportunity exists to join a pro-active, well respected and forward thinking Pharmacy Team delivering high quality patient care and service development for Cancer Services.

While the post will commence in the Oncology Pharmacy , Maidstone Hospital , due to the reconfiguration of the service, it is expected the service will move to the TW site in 2020 . Therefore the post holder would be require to work permanently at TW site .

You will support the Chief Pharmacy Technician – Quality Assurance in the delivery of the quality assurance system required to maintain the equipment and environment within the aseptic unit in the pharmacy department.

You will assist the day to day monitoring and testing (both physical and microbiological) required to maintain the environment, process and finished product.

You will participate in the provision of aseptic services (including cytotoxic preparation), where appropriate, under the supervision of senior staff. This will include the preparation of sterile products using aseptic technique in isolators in designated aseptic units

Some additional duties will include:

  • preparation of IV drugs used in chemotherapy and/ or neonate parenteral nutrition
  • maintenance of validations
  • Assist in the cleaning and maintenance of the aseptic unit.

No previous experience in Quality assurance is necessary, however it would be beneficial to have previous aseptic experience. Training will be given to develop the skills required to prepare chemotherapy treatments and parenteral nutrition.

You must have good manual dexterity and work accurately, often to short deadlines. The unit is an enclosed environment and the work is carried out in an isolator.
