Support Worker

You are invited to join our team of Support Workers in the Reception/Office area within the Pathology Department.

The post is permanent.

The main duties of the post include receipting pathological specimens, inputting and verifying patient data and test requests on to the Laboratory Information System, answering telephone queries and giving out results to users, sorting and despatching outgoing reports/mail for delivery, to attend relevant clinics and to be flexible to undertake other tasks as required.

The post holder will be required to have keyboard skills. Good communication skills and telephone manner are also essential together with the ability to work as a team member coping within a busy environment and working to deadlines.

Training will be given in all aspects of the role with the opportunity to develop through NVQ training or other appropriate courses.

Hours: 28 hours per week to be worked between 8:00am – 8:00pm

Monday to Friday.

**Core hours for this post are 2:20pm to 8pm**

(Saturday rota commitment is approximately 1:12 but is currently under review to include longer working hours and also Sunday and Bank Holiday working)

A charge of £60 (Enhanced) will be made by the successful candidate which will be deducted from the first 3 months’ salary. In addition to this, you will also be required to re-pay any future costs that may arise in relation to DBS fees.
