We are seeking to recruit a dynamic, highly motivated, enthusiastic and experienced staff nurse to join us in working as part of the Gynaecological Oncology nursing team. Ward 21 is an 18 bedded ward caring for patients with both Gynaecological and Gynaecological Oncology disorders as well as emergency surgical patients from the ED, Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit and IVF clinic. The ward is a high performing area with a clear patient focus and a reputation for quality and excellence within the Business Unit. Successful candidates will be expected to maintain and build upon these standards and contribute to the development of the nursing service.

 

The post holder will work as part of the team, providing high quality care to patients with both Gynaecological and Gynaecological Oncological disorders as well as supporting and facilitating the pathway for patients diagnosed with gynaecological cancers and their families. An integral part of the role involves working in collaboration with colleagues within the MDT, Clinical Nurse Specialists within both the Business Unit and across the Trust and also externally across the region with partnership organisations and the North East Cancer Network.

 

The successful applicant will need to meet the following criteria:

  • 1st level registration with NMC.

  • Specific interest in the care and management of the surgical patient

  • Specific interest in contributing towards service improvement and practice development within the nursing team

  • Evidence of ongoing professional development

  • Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work autonomously and as a member of the wider multi-disciplinary team

  • Knowledge and understanding of contemporary issues within surgical nursing

  • Flexibility to respond to the changing needs of the service
