The States of Guernsey are looking to appoint a Clinical Coder to join the team at Hospital Services.

The successful candidate will provide an efficient and high quality diagnostic and operative Clinical Coding Service, by collating & coding inpatient activity in line with International Classification of Diseases version 10 (ICD10) and Office of Population Census version 4 (OPCS - 4.8) rules and regulations.




We offer a full relocation package which includes interview and relocation travel, this is in addition to our competitive pay and annual bonus. Subsidised accommodation is available for those travelling to the island alone, and an 8 year employment permit for those wishing to bring a partner or family. After the initial 8 year permit, you may apply to become a permanent resident in Guernsey.

Appointment to this role will be subject to the following pre-employment checks which will be completed following an offer of employment:

  • Satisfactory references which must include one from the candidate's current line manager
  • Occupational Health Clearance
  • Satisfactory, Enhanced, Disclosure and Barring Service Check with Barred Listing Check. (Convictions likely to be considered relevant to this post include crimes involving, but not limited to, theft violence, dishonesty, fraud, vulnerable individuals and children)
  • Confirmation of required qualifications / registrations
  • Possession of a valid Right to Work document

Should the successful applicant not meet the requirements sufficiently they may be appointed at a lower grade than stated. The successful applicant would then have the opportunity to progress to the grade advertised once the necessary skills and knowledge have been developed and the postholder has demonstrated the ability to undertake the duties at the higher level.
