An exciting opportunity has arisen at Keswick Hospital for extra band 5 Staff Nurse, to join our happy team of nurses to deliver high quality, holistic care. In a recent PALs survey the ward score 100% in all categories. Due to an expansion of the ward from 12 to 16 beds we require extra nurses to enable us to have 2 Staff Nurses on each shift. We are looking for motivated and enthusiastic staff nurses to join the team The Hospital specialises in rehabilitation and End of Life Care and plays a key role in the Solway and Keswick ICC.

As a Community Hospital we are a busy unit admitting step-up patients from the community and step-down patients from the acute sector, the post requires individuals to work under pressure and with accuracy.

As we do not have a doctor on site being able to communication effectively with patients, staff and the out of hour’s CHOC service is essential (we have a ANP on site from 08:30 to 19:00). The post requires a candidate that has the ability to work as part of a MDT for successful discharge planning, as well as being passionate about holistic care to enable them to support patients and their families for end of life care. The role will also involve clinical skills including, male and female catheterisation, venepucture, cannulation, administration of IV medication, blood transfusions, ECGs, wound care etc.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate and give examples of their experience within their supporting information relating to the essential criteria outlined on the job description. Training will be given to the successful candidate if required.

The hours will be 12 hr shift work over 24 hours, weekend and bank holiday work will be expected as part of the role.

The Trust will provide a twelve month preceptorship period for all newly registered healthcare professionals.

Healthcare Professionals returning to practice, moving into new roles or changing clinical environments, may access an agreed preceptorship period.

The cost of the DBS must be met by the successful candidate(s) through salary deduction. DBS charges are as follows if applicable to the post:

Standard Check: £26 + Administration cost of £4.20 = deducted at £10.20 from 1st month salary and £10 deducted from salary over following 2 months.

Enhanced Check: £44 + administration cost of £4.20 = £15.20 deducted from 1st month salary and £11 deducted from salary over following 3 months.
