Paediatric Consultant

Applications are invited for the post of Paediatric Consultant with an interest in Cardiology at Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. This post is a replacement post.

The successful applicant would share the delivery of both the general paediatric hot week and the neonatal hot week, in addition to providing cardiology services. On call is currently provided for combined general paediatrics and neonates on a 1 in 8 rota. Our intention is to expand to ten consultants over the next twelve months.

BHNFT offers comprehensive General Paediatrics with 8 consultants, and a range of sub-specialist clinics including some in conjunction with visiting tertiary specialists from Sheffield Children’s Hospital and Leeds Teaching Hospitals. BHNFT has a level 2 Neonatal Unit functioning within the Yorkshire and Humber Neonatal Operational Delivery Network.

There has been substantial investment into the service recently with a new (opened in 2018) Neonatal Unit. Over the next year, the Children’s ward will be relocated adjacent to the Neonatal Unit; and the Children’s Assessment Unit will be co-located with the Paediatric Emergency Department.

The paediatric department supports twenty trainees at both Tier one and Tier two levels. All consultants are involved in providing training and education to foundation programme doctors, vocational training scheme trainees and paediatric speciality trainees.

Enhanced Check: £44.00 + administration cost of £3.69 = £14.69 deduction from 1st months salary, £11.00 deduction from salary over following 3 months.
