You should have the ability and character to reflect the Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust values and a socially inclusive approach in everything you do, working with people whose beliefs and lifestyle may be radically different from your own.

You will be in good standing with the Church of England or other Anglican Church. You will have up-to-date knowledge and experience of providing pastoral, spiritual and religious care and its application to an acute setting, and be able to raise awareness of Spiritual Care by collaborative working both inside and outside the Trust and through education and training. Some of this experience will have been gained within an acute hospital or hospice environment.

You will be a committed team member and be keen to contribute to the development of an effective Chaplaincy department and also be capable of engaging patients with spiritual, pastoral and religious needs from both within and beyond your own faith tradition in a culturally diverse community. You will be committed to the wider role of Chaplaincy in a large Trust with inpatient and community contexts.

The successful candidate will enjoy collegial working within a cross-site multi-faith team which is committed to high standards of professional care.

You will be available to be included in the chaplaincy on-call and weekend work rota which covers both Lewisham and Queen Elizabeth hospitals and to live within a reasonable distance to the hospitals in order to meet the on-call requirements.

The post is subject to an enhanced DBS disclosure and successful health check.
