Objectives

To provide support to service users in their home, to lead a valued and fulfilling life and to maximise the potential capacity of all service users, physically, intellectually, emotionally and socially. To contribute to the overall management of the service, supporting the Team Leader within their role.

 

Main Duties & Responsibilities

 

  • To assist in the day-to-day running of the home and in all matters regarding the service users’ daily lives.

 

  • To carry responsibility for the service, ensuring that high standards of care and support are maintained as a senior employee, adhering to all requirements and regulations within the Care Standards Act 2000.

 

  • To supervise the work of support workers and relief staff, ensuring that all duties are carried out in such a way as to maintain high care and support standards at all times.

 

  • To discuss issues arising from the above with the Team Leader and General Manger  as necessary.

 

  • To work within a flexible rota system adapted to meet the needs of individuals living in the Service User’s home.

 

  • To work as part of a staff team in a constructive and supportive manner, attend regular staff meetings / seminars, individual support and supervision meetings as necessary.

 

  • To work predominantly 9-5pm Mon – Friday , however to be flexible where there is a  need to ensure the service users needs are met within services.

 

  • To ensure the safety of the service users at all times, reporting promptly any concerns about the health, safety or wellbeing of service users.

 

  • To notify the manager of any new criminal convictions you may have committed, including motoring offences.

 

  • To notify the Manager of any changes in your health that may affect you in your role.

 

Management of Staff

 

  • To assist with the Induction of new staff.

 

  • Mentoring and Monitoring of staff/performance.

 

  • To carry out any other duties reasonably expected of you by your Manager or Liberty Care.

 

Management of Service users

 

  • To advise, guide, support and assist service users on all matters relating to their welfare and health and safety in conjunction with other staff, professional health care staff and agencies.

 

  • To function as a lead person within the team taking particular responsibility for individual services, liaising with Team Leaders when there has been changes to service users ensuring Reviews, Care Plans and Risk Assessments, sharing these updates with other members of the team.

 

  • To assist in ensuring all staff are aware of and are working towards meeting agreed packages of care for all individual service users within the services.

 

  • To support service users in making choices in such a way as to ensure that they have a healthy, culturally appropriate and nutritious diet.

 

  • To help service users to attain and maintain good standards of hygiene and personal care, providing assistance as appropriate.

 

  • Maintain a valued lifestyle and a positive approach to the individuality and autonomy of service users, contributing to the on-going assessment, planning and implementation of behavioural guidelines and skills learning programmes.

 

  • To establish positive and trustworthy relationships with service users, relatives and external agencies.

 

Management of the Service

 

  • To contribute to the overall cleaning of the service users home and involve the service users in these tasks as appropriate.

 

  • To organise and administer medication and conduct weekly audits in line with all Policies and Procedures and to maintain all associated records.

 

  • To be vigilant to the health and safety of service users, visitors, colleagues and others.

 

  • To accurately maintain all records as required by the Domiciliary Manager.

 

  • To have a working knowledge of all Policies, Procedures and guidelines within Liberty Care.

 

  • To liaise effectively with colleagues, external agencies and relatives.

 

 

Professional Development

 To undertake a three to six monthly probationary periods, whereby your performance will be reviewed and suitability for the post assessed.

 To undertake courses and pursue own professional development and training. The company proactively encourages staff to improve their skills as appropriate




Disclosure and Barring Service Check
