The Trust’s main hub is the Queen Alexandra Hospital, which started life more than a century ago as a military hospital. Today it is one of the largest, modern hospitals on the south coast, with 1,200 beds housed in light, bright, infection resistant, en-suite wards. With a turnover of close to £600m, the Trust provides comprehensive secondary care and specialist services to a local population of 675,000 people across South East Hampshire. Some tertiary services are provided to a wider catchment in excess of two million people. The Trust employs over 7,300 staff and is the largest employer in Portsmouth.


Portsmouth Hospital NHS Trust is looking for Consultant Geriatricians to join our vibrant team working at Queen Alexandra Hospital.

Our existing Consultant team provide care for our Older Persons population across nine wards and a range of community clinics.

If you want to join an established team of Consultants and take an active role in providing high quality care and service leadership then we want to hear from you.

We’re looking for:

  • Full GMC registration with a licence to practice
  • Entry on the GMC specialist register via CCT (proposed date must be within 6 months), CESR or European Community Rights
  • Individuals with a holistic approach to the care of older people
