3 full days or 4 short days a week - Term time only 

The Essex Child and Family Wellbeing Service, in partnership with Barnardo’s, have a newly created opportunity for a term time only Healthy Family Support Worker to join our service to deliver the National Child Measurement Programme within Schools and Local Communities across the North Essex Quadrant.

Since 2017, Virgin Care in partnership with Barnardos working together as The Essex Child and Family Wellbeing service have delivered innovative and refreshing health and social care pre-birth to 19 years services to Essex Families. We have developed our own unique approach where our families are at the centre of everything we do and right now, we’re looking for a Healthy Family Team Leader to lead in ensuring the development and effectiveness of their specific multi-disciplinary integrated care teams.

 

Feel Proud 

As a Healthy Family Support Worker delivering the National Child Measurement Programme you will carry out routine prescribed Public Health screening of school aged children, and promote health and wellbeing activities to school-aged children, their parents, schools and their local communities.   

You will need to be able:-

  • To undertake the School Entry and NCMP screening for a specified group of schools.
  • To work with children, young people and their families, on a one to one or group basis, using a variety of interventions, to identify needs and to achieve positive outcomes.
  • To work in partnership with parents/carers to empower them and to enable them to achieve better outcomes for their children.
  • To work co-operatively with children’s services, health agencies and other community based services, to provide the most effective service for children young people and families.
  • Be based in either Berechurch Family Hub or Sydney Family Hub and work primarily in either the Colchester or Tendring localities, however as part of the NCMP team you will need to be flexible as you will be expected to work across North Essex schools when service demand requires.
  • To contribute to Service development.
  • To apply safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • The post holder will also deliver group evidence based parenting programmes and provide evidence based family support interventions this will cover a variety of needs to provide early help on a wide range of child and family health/care concerns 
  • The post holder will work closely with colleagues within the Healthy Family Team to ensure families receive timely, specific and appropriate support
  • You will need strong communication and organisation skills, and a flexible approach to ensure you deliver positive experiences to our clients at every stage of their healthcare journey. 
  • You’ll care for our clients and their families in the way that you believe is best, delivering our high service standards, sharing best practice, and actively improving the way we work.
  • Full Driving Licence and access to a personal vehicle

Our North Essex team recently held a Fun Day, attended by around 180 colleagues including our Quadrant Unicorn! We took part in a number of games and team building activities, along with delivering numerous star awards for practitioners and partners, all nominated either by colleagues and/or by clients.
