Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner

Job Reference: 403-FCPGEN01

Employer:
Taunton and Somerset NHS Foundation Trust
Location:
Somerset
Salary:
£44,606 - £50,819 pro rata per annum

Are you an experienced musculoskeletal (MSk) physiotherapist looking for a new challenge with a dynamic, innovative and supportive team?

With the roll out of our successful First contact (FCP) roles in the newly formed PCNs we are looking to expand our workforce to meet this increasing demand. We are working collaboratively across Somerset to deliver whole MSk pathway integration and a system wide host model to improve patient access to the right care, by the right person, at the right time. The integrated MSk service in Somerset has demonstrated that it provides an easily accessible expert MSk assessment, diagnosis and advice service, with a key responsibility being identification of the correct care pathway and supporting patients to self-manage and access support in the neighbourhoods.

Band 8 Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner (APP) posts working clinically across the musculoskeletal (MSK) pathway and providing leadership to facilitate the expanding FCP service within the primary care networks.
Band 7 APP/FCP posts working with the primary care networks and MSk physiotherapy teams across Somerset.
Band 7 Clinical Specialist posts to ensure we are delivering an excellent clinical physiotherapy service in our physiotherapy departments.
Band 6 MSk development posts working within our physiotherapy departments but supported to develop into advanced physiotherapy practitioners.

For the Band 7/ 8 roles you will primarily work as an FCP in Primary Care in Somerset based in a GP surgery in the newly formed PCNs, however, we believe in developing our employees in portfolio working so there will also be opportunities to work as an APP across the MSk pathway within our integrated MSk service, through MIU and ED our orthopaedic assessment service across Somerset and secondary care orthopaedic clinics.

These are FANTASTIC opportunities for motivated APPs who are passionate about the consistent delivery of quality clinical management of musculoskeletal conditions for the patients presenting to our MSK services and excited to deliver the emerging role to manage patients at the start of their MSk pathway. We are looking for employees who are already working at an advanced practice level as measured against the HEE competency framework, and for employees who have the foundation MSk skills and would like to develop towards an FCP role with full support and training. We have a highly skilled clinical team to help develop your competencies and we are currently working with local higher education institutes to develop our workforce with the opportunity to undertake ACP modules or full MSc as the apprenticeship pathway develops.

You will be part of a network of advanced physiotherapy clinicians for peer support and professional development and will be given time and the opportunity to develop themselves and others and be expected to evaluate the service and actively participate in audit and research and share our work at conferences and in publications.

In order to roll the service out to the PCNs in Somerset we are also looking to develop our current team and backfill into the departments. So if you are passionate about MSk management either in the FCP role or making sure patients get excellent treatment and rehabilitation in the physiotherapy departments then please get in touch. Working collaboratively across Somerset we deliver our services out of several different hub site clinics and GP practices. There is the expectation that you will be flexible to meet the needs of the service and in return we will offer an exciting role within a supportive team with flexible working arrangements.
