An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Pharmacy Technician role in Episkopi, Cyprus.

The Pharmacy Technician (PT) is responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient daily running of the dispensary.

As a successful candidate your duties could include but will not be limited to:

• Taking control of all pharmaceutical matters and providing medicines information and advice to patients, MOs nurses and dispensing staff on all aspects of medicines management.

• The maintenance of the Practice Formulary in conjunction with the SMO and MO IC Medical Account and maintaining a recent and accurate drug reference library.

• Ensuring that the security measures required for Controlled Drugs (CD) and Accountable Drugs (AD) in accordance with JSP 950 leaflet 9-2-1 are fully complied with.

• The preparation of a dispensing continuation trade training programme in conjunction with the Practice Manager including the supervision and on the job training (OJT) of all Medics employed in the Dispensary.

• Ensuring that the dispensary is kept fully stocked at all times and that the drugs and medicines prescribed by the MOs are dispensed correctly and in accordance with current regulations.

• Ensure a percentage check a percentage of all drugs is carried out to ensure that the quantity entered on the Medical IT System is correct.

There may also be a requirement for the incumbent to travel and provide pharmacy cover island wide within a DPHC facility.

Qualifications required

Registration with GPhC (achieved via NVQ Level 3/BTEC Pharmaceutical science qualification, or grand-parenting) – plus other additional training for checking dispensed prescriptions without further reference. Practical experience to be able to operate in a singleton post.

Successful candidates must meet the security requirements before they can be appointed. The level of security needed is security check.

Whilst you will be a permanent member of the MOD, you will be subject to the normal overseas posting lengths and you will have an obligation to return to a MOD position in the UK after your overseas posting. This is not a Specially Recruited to Cyprus position. At the end of a tour no guarantees can be given that you will return to your previous or preferred location in the UK. This may mean the mobility obligation for mobile grades may be enacted where there is no suitable post at an individual’s preferred location.
