A new and exciting opportunity has arisen as part of the Pharmacy Team for a registered pharmacy technician to work at Velindre Cancer Centre. You will be supported by the Medicines at Home Manager and will work with other pharmacy, medical, nursing and clerical staff.

The role will include operational management of the Medicines at Home Team and includes:

  • Co-ordinates with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to implement homecare services
  • Investigates, develops, and reports on the current and future processes for patients consenting to receive homecare medicines management
  • Works with the pharmacy medicine contracts manager or equivalent to ensure homecare service medicine prices are kept up to date with homecare companies
  • Manages homecare medicines management services
  • Provides specialist advice on medicines and processes associated with homecare medicines management to patients, carers, and homecare contractors
  • Works under guidance of SOPs, GMP and COSHH.
  • Ensures compliance with current homecare medicines management guidance

The post holder will be a qualified technician who is registered with the GPhC and has with relevant CPD. Previous homecare or hospital experience would be desirable but full training would be provided.

We are also looking for a good team player, as well as a high standard of personal organization and time management being essential. You will be able to demonstrate advanced communication skills and have the skills to supervise and support junior staff are required.

Velindre is one of the 10 largest Cancer Centre’s in the UK serving approximately 1.5 million people living in South East Wales. It is situated just off junction 32 of the M4 on the outskirts of Cardiff. With Cardiff having good rail and road links to Swansea, Bristol and London, as well as an airport with national and international flights. It has excellent shopping facilities, bars and restaurants and is close to the beautiful Brecon beacons national park and the seaside resorts of Penarth and Porthcawl.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
