Physiotherapy Support Worker ITU Rehab - Band 3

30 hours per week.

These hours will be across a 7 day rostered pattern to enable consistent cover of the ITU rehab service .

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Physiotherapy team working on ITU at Southmead hospital on our 44 bed state of the art intensive care unit. Southmead is the regional Major Trauma centre and as such sees a high acuity of complex patients through ITU. Physiotherapy is important from the start of these patients' journey and the highly skilled team provide acute care and rehabilitation across a 7 day service whilst the patient remain on the unit.

Duties will include supporting the physiotherapists with manual handling and therapeutic techniques to enable early mobilisation of the patients, assisting with mobility and functional activities as appropriate and preventing secondary complications from injury and illness.

You will have supervision and support available at all times.

You should have established skills within healthcare preferably in an acute setting and be used to working with acutely unwell patients. You should have good communication skills and a caring and compassionate nature and have general experience of working within teams. Experience of delivering rehabilitation would be desirable.

You will have full induction and development in house to allow you to undertake this fulfilling role.

The team is led by 2 Highly Specialist Physiotherapist along with senior physiotherapists and rotational physiotherapists as well as 2 established support workers , you will work alongside them all and also be part of the wider multi disciplinary team working closely with nursing staff particularly.

There are regular in service training and development opportunities.
