If so, we have a part-time vacancy for 15 hours per week as a Band 6 Practice Nurse at our MoD Lyneham location.

Demonstrating safe, clinical decision-making and expert care for patients, you will work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team (MDT) to meet the needs of patients, supporting the delivery of policy and procedures and providing nurse leadership.

Main responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing direct clinical patient care between 64% of the working week i.e. 8 x 3 hour clinics (or 48% of the working week i.e. 6 x 3 hour clinics if the most senior nurse within the facility). This responsibility will be delivered on a pro-rata basis according to working hours.
  • Making professionally autonomous decisions for which you are accountable.
  • Administering, monitoring and altering medication for patients with complex health care needs consistent with protocols, standards, legislation, DPHC policies and guidelines and, where appropriate, in accordance with Patient Group Directions.
  • Providing safe, evidence-based, cost-effective and individualised patient care.
  • Demonstrating inspirational, innovative and motivational leadership acting as a role model at all times.
  • Encouraging and developing teamwork within the practice.
  • Supervising and supporting education and development needs of colleagues, less experienced staff and trainees. Advising and supporting the development of team members and attached learning staff.

The successful candidate will be required to provide evidence of the following:

  • Specialist knowledge across a range of procedures underpinned by theory. A Registered Nurse with professional knowledge acquired through degree/diploma, supplemented by diploma level specialist training, experience, short courses.

There is no requirement to deploy as this is met by our uniformed personnel, but you will form the continuity of care required by our patients when based at home.
