Defence Primary Healthcare (DPHC) is now offering an exciting position as a Civilian Dental Practitioner at Memorial Health Centre, Kirkee Road, Tidworth SP9 7BQ.

The role of DPHC is to provide and commission a safe, effective and efficient healthcare service for entitled personnel contributing to the maximisation of Service personnel fit for task as agreed with the single Services. This is achieved through the provision of an occupationally-aware primary healthcare service which includes dental, rehabilitation and mental healthcare services.

The duties of the successful candidate include but are not limited to;

-Inspecting all personnel for whom they are responsible at intervals in accordance with The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence guidelines and providing follow up treatment as required.

-Providing an occupational oral health assessment, being fully conversant with NATO Dental Fitness categorisation and dental input into the Joint Medical Employment Standard for Service personnel.

-Ensuring that contemporaneous notes are recorded on individuals’ integrated electronic healthcare records for all episodes of care.

-Ensuring that surgery management, documentation including consumable stores, the safe custody of personal sensitive data and the maintenance of equipment is kept to a high standard at all times.

-Onward referral of personnel to enhanced practitioners, specialists or consultants for treatment as appropriate.

Successful candidates should also:

-Be prepared to contribute to the development of staff skills and knowledge.

-Be confident in using IT and digital radiography.

Qualifications and Memberships

Successful candidates will be required to show evidence of the following:

-Registration with the General Dental Council (please include details on any current, spent, or impending restrictions to practice) and either; have undertaken Foundation Dentist Training (or have qualified before foundation training became compulsory in the NHS); or have evidence of adequate clinical experience (either in the UK or abroad) to be able to practice independently.

-Evidence of indemnity cover for general dental practice.

-Evidence of currency with GDC CPD requirements.

-Full UK driving licence to enable regular working from other local military dental centres will be expected.

There is no requirement to deploy as this is met by our uniformed personnel but you will form the continuity of care required by our patients when based at home.
