Applications are invited for a full time (10PA’s) Consultant Anaesthetic post with an interest in Intensive Care to join an existing well-established and expanding Department at the Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The Critical Care Unit comprises a 7 bedded ITU and 8 bedded HDU.

Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust was opened progressively between 1984 and 1989 on a green field site two miles east of the center of Chesterfield and comprises approximately 660 beds. It provides almost all of the acute in-patient care for Chesterfield and the surrounding rural area of North Derbyshire, serving a population of approximately 400,00 people.

The area to the west of Chesterfield, which attracts many visitors, is predominantly rural and includes the market towns of Matlock and Bakewell lying in west Derbyshire and the spa town of Buxton in the High Peak. Chesterfield itself lies in the east of the area and is a thriving market town with a long history of trading and engineering.

The Peak District National Park, which includes the Chatsworth Estate, lies within a few miles of the town boundary and attracts many visitors to the area.

There are good road and rail links from Chesterfield with London and other major cities in the country. Sheffield, Nottingham and Derby are approximately 14 miles, 24 miles and 26 miles respectively distant and easily reached by car or train. The M1 motorway passes within the eastern boundary of the District, providing a fast link with the East Midland’s Airport.
