This role offers successful candidates the opportunity to work flexible shifts within Leeds Teaching Hospitals as part of the Staff Bank.

Wards Covered: General

Pay: Band 5

-Days: £15.40 - £24.09 per hour

-Saturday/Nights: £20.02 - £28.71 per hour

-Sunday/Bank Holiday: £24.64- £33.33 per hour

*Bonus’ and incentives: £200 bonus after 32 hours worked.


We are looking compassionate, enthusiastic and motivated Registered Nurses to work in A&E at Leeds Teaching Hospitals. A successful candidate will be an effective team player and will be committed to equal opportunities and non-discriminatory practices.

A successful Bank Nurse will be an enthusiastic, forward thinking, committed and motivated qualified nurse with excellent communication and leadership skills. Successful candidates will support the Ward Manager, junior sisters and Multidisciplinary team to provide patient centred care, maintain high care delivery standards and efficient, safe management of patients within A&E.

A successful candidate for this role will have:

  • A minimum of 6 month experience working in Registered Nurse role within A&E in a UK hospital.
  • Full vaccination history (must include full course of Hepatitis B vaccinations, blood test and surface antigen test, 2 MMR vaccinations, a BCG vaccination, HIV blood test, Hepatitis C blood test).
  • Ability to work a minimum of 1 shifts every 3 months.
  • Pass pre-employment checks (including enhanced DBS, occupational health screening and entitlement to work checks).

If you are offered a position, you may be required to undertake a DBS. The Trust will administer the DBS check on your behalf and will recover the cost (Enhanced £48 or Standard £30) from your salary over a 3 month period (including Internal staff). You will also be required to participate in the DBS Update Service and pay the £13 cost per year. This is a condition of your employment. For Band 1 roles the Trust will pay the cost of the DBS checks and refund to you the cost of the update service. DBS checks for volunteers are free.
