The South West Oxfordshire District Nursing Service currently have an opportunity for a dynamic and motivated Registered Nurse to develop their skills within the Community setting.

Based in the South West Oxfordshire locality we have one full time post in Abingdon district nursing teams.

We are a pro-active District Nursing locality and are currently involved in the development of a more neighbourhood style of working locally, in particular working closely with GPs plus other health and social care professionals to deliver a more seamless patient pathway. Many of our patients are older and often have complex health needs which bring many challenges.

We are looking for a motivated nurse to join our busy, professional and dynamic team. You should possess commitment to team working and innovative delivery of excellent standards of care.

The successful candidates will demonstrate excellent communication skills and will provide Community Nursing care, advice and information to patients and carers with the aim of maintaining patients in their own homes enabling them to enjoy maximum independence and optimum quality of life.

You will also be able to demonstrate a real passion for community nursing, as well as an aspiration for on-going professional development and behaviours that underpin our trust vision for nursing.

We welcome both experienced community nurses and nurses who wish to move into Community Nursing . We recognise that many nursing skills are transferable and that if you have a commitment to learn we will support you in your role.

Oxford Health has a robust career progression framework to support development through band 5 to complete competencies and progression towards a band 6/ specialist district nurse role.

The Abingdon district nursing teams are comprised of 4 teams who work closely together and are well supported by 6 team leaders. They work closely with the wider MDT, including Hospital @ Home, the Integrated Locality Team, Tissue Viability, Community Matrons and Palliative care services and there would be opportunities to work alongside these during an induction period.
