The BMI Goring Hall Hospital is a mid-sized and busy acute care hospital that prides itself on the level of superb quality patient care it provides. At the hospital we have an inpatient ward with 22 beds, 2 extended recovery beds, a day surgery unit with 12 beds and a 4 pod area for local cases. Currently we offer elective surgery across many different surgical areas including orthopaedics, gynaecology, general surgery, scopes including flexi cystoscopy, ENT, diagnostics, cataracts and cosmetic.

We have a friendly team that work interdepartmentally across the hospital and a very active social committee who organise regular events throughout the year. There is always an opportunity to further skills with the excellent training that BMI offer all staff members and career moves / promotion within all departments are often arising.

We have an opportunity for a Clinical Pharmacist to join their team of staff in the Pharmacy department.

This is an  opportunity  to develop in hospital clinical practice and  join our patient safety focused team.

This is a FULL time role for 37.5 hours a week. 

Applicants should meet the following criteria:

  • Degree in Pharmacy MPharm, BSc or BPharm.
  • Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council as a pharmacist.
  • Knowledge of General Pharmaceutical Council Codes of Professional Conduct, Ethics and Performance and their implications for practice.
  • Must have experience working in a hospital within the UK.
  • Knowledge of the Care Standards Act and Care and Quality Commission Requirements.
  • Proficient in the use of a PC, including the use of software and systems

Duties of this role include:

  • To provide pharmaceutical expertise and input into the care of the patients within a BMI hospital, supporting the pharmacy department to deliver an excellent medicine management service to all customers.   
  • To supervise the procurement, preparation, dispensing and distribution of medicines, whilst supervising junior staff members in the delivery of the medicine management service. 
  • To assume responsibility for clinical service as identified.
  • Provide clinical input with respect to medicines to all patients.
  • Ensure accurate and timely charging.
  • Ensure compliance with all appropriate regulatory, professional and best practice frameworks.
  • Be a proactive member of the Hospital’s multidisciplinary team.
