Are you a motivated, dynamic and caring Registered ODP/Nurse who is able to demonstrate a high standard of clinical practice, then Warrington and Halton Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust would really like to hear from you?

If you are passionate about Emergency out of hours surgery and have a desire to work in a supportive, compassionate and dedicated team then this is the job for you.

We are seeking motivated individuals who share our mission to be “Outstanding for our patients, our communities and each other” and welcome applications from ODP’s and RN’s with significant surgical scrub experience.

We offer a wide range of surgical specialties. We are a friendly team, who welcome new staff and provide a comprehensive induction programme to support new team members. Regular CPD will be provided to continually update and introduce you to new techniques and best practice. To encourage this over the past 12 months we have developed our own dedicated simulation and clinical training Theatre within our operating suite championed by our perioperative practice education lead.

Applications are invited from Practitioners with a real interest in working within the emergency care perioperative night team especially from those with experience who wish to help us develop our existing service.

You will need to be a Registered Operating Department Practitioner or Registered Nurse with existing Perioperative experience/qualifications.

Theatre services within the trust are currently provided on Warrington, Cheshire and Merseyside Treatment Centre and Halton sites. You will be predominantly based at our Warrington site however rotation over to our Runcorn site may be expected to provide cover to our Halton or CMTC sites.

All successful candidates will be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of perioperative care programs. All applicants will be expected to possess excellent communication and team working qualities with a willingness to learn new skills. You should also thrive on working in a busy environment and be forward thinking and passionate about providing a high standard of care. Practitioners will be team players with a flexible attitude to the service requirements, and a defined awareness of the importance of service delivery. Multi skilling is encouraged and those wishing to broaden their range of clinical skills will be supported. We would welcome individuals who have an enthusiastic approach to teaching students and junior members of staff.

The successful candidate must also be prepared to participate in E-Roster shift work, nights, unsocial hours and on call to cover the 24/7 period. On Call commitment attracts additional payment agreed at 2018/19 AfC rates.

Warrington Hospital

There are eight Theatres on the Warrington acute site which provides services for the following specialities: Gynaecology, Obstetrics and General Surgery including laparoscopic surgery, Urology, Breast Surgery, ENT, Dental, Colorectal including laparoscopic surgery, Ophthalmic, Trauma & Orthopaedic, and Paediatrics.

We also provide a 24 hour Trauma, Obstetric and Emergency service. As part of this service you will be required to support emergencies and provide an out of hour’s service including rotation onto nights and an on call Rota.

Halton Hospital


Halton is our Elective Surgery Hospital which has a busy 4 Theatre department providing patient services for a broad range of surgical specialities including General, Gynaecology, Urology, ENT, Breast, Dental, Ophthalmics and Chronic Pain. It is situated adjacent to our Elective Orthopaedic Hospital the Cheshire and Merseyside Treatment Centre (CMTC).

Cheshire & Merseyside Treatment Centre (CMTC)

The CMTC has a modern Canadian design and is a four theatre suite which provides a light, spacious and free flowing area which enhances the everyday work environment for staff and Clinicians alike. The CMTCs cover many aspects of elective Orthopaedic Surgery including Joint Arthroplasty, Upper limb, Foot and Ankle, Sport injury, Spinal and Trauma.

Warrington and Halton NHS Foundation Trust Hospitals are centrally located within the heart of North Cheshire, with Manchester and Liverpool International Airports both within a 30 minute drive. There is also excellent motorway links (M6, M56 and M62) providing access to Chester, Manchester and Liverpool for an excellent range of shopping, entertainment, places of historic interest and sporting facilities. The motorway links provide the opportunity to visit the beautiful countryside of Cheshire, the Peak and Lake Districts and the stunning Coastal regions of North Wales and Lancashire.

A charge of £60 (Enhanced) will be made by the successful candidate which will be deducted from the first 3 months’ salary. In addition to this, you will also be required to re-pay any future costs that may arise in relation to DBS fees.
