A new state-of-the-art hospital opened in Whitehaven in 2015, representing the single biggest investment in healthcare in West Cumbria for over 50 years. This is a really important milestone for our organisation which will allow us to further expand our range of local services as we continue to improve safety and quality.

Applications are welcome from candidates wishing to work in Orthopaedics. In the course of his/her work the job holder liaises with nursing, professional and technical, social work and administrative staff.

This is a good opportunity for dynamic trainees wishing to pursue a career in Trauma & Orthopaedics & will provide a chance to be operating surgeon in Trauma (DHS, nails, hip hemiarthroplasty, wrist and ankle fixations) as well as elective operations.

Educational Supervision

An educational supervisor will be assigned to provide support. Appraisal is carried out at regular intervals, and forwarded to the specialty lead.

Duties

The Trust Doctor (ST/Reg) will be responsible for the day-to-day care of all patients under the Consultants. The programme of training for each individual doctor will be flexible depending on his/her particular needs and stage of training. The post holder may be required to work across the two hospital sites within the Trust.
