The hub of the Trust is located on the outskirts of Nuneaton and its services cover a large footprint, including north Warwickshire, south west Leicestershire, and north Coventry. We also provide primary and community services across Coventry, Warwickshire and Leicestershire.

You’ll be joining us at an exciting time as we plan our future together following our joining of a collaborative foundation group of hospitals alongside South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust and Wye Valley NHS Trust, led by a Chief Executive with a national reputation for improving Urgent and Emergency Care.

The George Eliot Hospital has approximately 300 beds, catering for General Medicine, General Surgery, Care of the Elderly, Paediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Trauma and Orthopaedics and Emergency Department, with supportive from the nearby Tertiary Centres of Leicester and Coventry.

The ED department currently see around 92,000 patients including those seen in a children’s assessment unit jointly staffed by Paediatrics and A&E. Our model includes a Minors/Urgent Care area staffed with ANP’s, ENP’s and GP’s as well as a minor's doctor.

With an executive team committed to excelling in delivering a quality service to our ever increasing population. This is an exciting opportunity to join a department undergoing a process of modernisation, with the aim of enhancing our service to ensure the provision of excellent care for the 300,000 community we serve.


The Role

We are looking for Consultants who are on the Specialist Register of the GMC to join a team of 6, providing extended evening and weekend cover. We are looking for dynamic, enthusiastic and motivated individuals with a desire for excellence in governance, teaching and training as well as the clinical services we provide to our patients. With the possibility of annualised rota’s, we aim to create mutually agreed job plans that are sustainable and that acknowledge the need for a good work life balance.

George Eliot has excellent educational facilities and benefits from strong links with Warwick Medical School including an opportunity for academic links with Warwick University such as teaching appointments and potential for faculty association.
