Consultant Psychiatrist in Specialist Older Adults Mental Health Services

Applications are invited for a Consultant in Old Age Psychiatry, based in Chichester.

Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust was formed in April 2006 and provides mental health, learning disability and substance misuse services to the people of Brighton and Hove, East Sussex and West Sussex. Close links have been developed with Brighton and Sussex Medical School and there is a Sussex-wide training scheme in Psychiatry. The dementia Chair, Sube Banerjee, leads research and academic developments. The Trust is divided into three localities of East Sussex, Brighton and Hove and West Sussex.

This is an opportunity for an enthusiastic Consultant Psychiatrist to join a vibrant, dynamic and professional service in West Sussex. The post holder will work closely with other Consultants in Dementia Services in West Sussex. They will ensure high quality mental health care for older people and are expected to embrace New Ways of Working in their clinical practice. There will be opportunities to work closely with senior managers to implement improvements and developments in the future, as well as develop research interests.

The Consultant will provide input to the 10 bed male Dementia admission ward and to the Dementia crisis service in Chichester. The service will be supported by several other consultant-led services based on the site. West Sussex Dementia service is currently remodelling how we provide community care and we are in the process of redeveloping our inpatient facilities to provide a centre of excellence. This post will have the opportunity to help shape this exciting development.
