Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust (LPT) provides a range of community health, mental health and learning disability services for people of all ages. Delivered through over 100 settings from inpatient wards to out in the community, our 6,500 staff serves over 1m people living in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.


An exciting opportunity has arisen within the in-patient areas of the Community Health Services at Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust to become a Band 5 Medicines Administration Technician.

Based at the Bennion centre, your role will be to maintain a safe, efficient and professional drug administration and medicines management service responsive to the needs of its customers, in accordance with current legislation and guidance.

The in-patient areas of the Community Health Services all have a multi-disciplinary approach to patient management. Supported by the Ward Manager and Matron, you will demonstrate and develop your professional accountability, innovative thinking and contribute to the clear vision for the in-patient areas.

Duties are varied but will include:

  • To undertake medication administration rounds
  • To screen patients on admission to the Trust, contacting GPs and / or other healthcare providers to ascertain the patient’s medication history and advising Trust staff of identified discrepancies.
  • To identify potential pharmaceutical issues that may arise during discharge planning and work with multi-disciplinary teams to resolve.

We offer training and personal development within the wards and at our Learning and Development centre to ensure you have the knowledge and skills to meet patient needs and complete you revalidation CPD requirements.

The successful candidate should have good computer skills, demonstrate they can work accurately, have excellent communication skills and be proactive. They need to be able to work as part of a team, work in an organised manner, and have a willingness to learn.

BTEC in Pharmacy Science or Equivalent
