Royal Papworth Hospital is an internationally renowned Cardiothoracic Centre on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus with a proven track record of excellence in the delivery of outstanding patient care receiving both local and national referrals.

The post-holder will act as lead physiotherapy clinician in a highly specialised area of Lung Defence, to ensure a high quality physiotherapy service provision to respiratory medical patients within the Trust across an inpatient and outpatient setting.   With support from the physiotherapy clinical lead and Band 6 deputy team leader, the post-holder will have direct responsibility for co-ordination, provision and development of the respiratory medicine physiotherapy service.  The post holder will report to the Physiotherapy Clinical Lead.

Applicants must demonstrate significant experience in physiotherapeutic management of respiratory medical patients.  The applicant must demonstrate robust leadership and people management skills. Essential for this post is relevant post-graduate cardio-respiratory education as well as leading service improvement projects, research and audit.

Candidates must be able to work under pressure, be highly motivated and committed to personal and others development, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, proven organisational skills and experience of teaching.

Depending on experience the post holder will have the opportunity to be involved in a research project looking at the efficacy of the AffloVest as an adjunct to airway clearance.

The post-holder will be expected to participate in late shifts, on call and weekend working, based on a seven day shift pattern, in all areas of the hospital (including Critical Care, Surgical and Medical wards).
