Consultant in Respiratory Medicine

Warrington and Halton Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (WHHFT) are seeking to appoint a Consultant Physician with a sub-specialty interest in Respiratory Medicine.

We are particularly interested in candidates who have an interest in lung cancer and have or wish to further develop their interventional skills however there is opportunity for Consultants with other sub-speciality interests. This is a vacant post currently covered by a long term locum.

We are embracing change and have invested in clinical leadership to role model behaviours, encourage accountability and develop an environment where patient care is paramount and staff matter.

The team have developed a Respiratory strategy that is attached to this advert, however offer a substantial respiratory offering:

  • Level 2b Sleep service including provision of auto-CPAP.

  • Ward based NIV service with the capacity for up to 4 acute NIV patients.

  • Ward-based pleural procedure room with thoracic ultrasound facility – a fully refurbished room will open in September 2019.

  • EBUS and Bronchoscopy service that supports the lung cancer pathways.

  • An integrated consultant-led community respiratory service

  • In-reach into the acute medical unit supporting admissions and early senior decision-making.

For applicants with special interest in acute medicine or critical care, hybrid job plans including in-reach sessions into either specialty can be facilitated.

Warrington is an attractive town situated in Cheshire. It has good local motorway and railway links to the large local cities of Liverpool and Manchester and as such is ideally placed for enjoying the shopping, restaurants and nightlife of these two bustling cities as well as outdoor activities in Chester, North Wales and the Lake & Peak Districts.
