We are offering an exciting opportunity to join our team of specialist pharmacists at Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and experienced clinical pharmacist to act as the key link between the pharmacy team and the Trust’s Gastroenterology team. This is a busy team of 9 Consultant gastroenterologists and their nurse specialists. We see patients aged 0 -16 years referred from all around the UK and internationally. We treat a wide range of problems from severe reflux through to inflammatory bowel disease.

In this role, you will be a core member of our pharmacy medicine team at the Western Bank site providing clinical pharmacy services to gastroenterology patients (inpatients and homecare patients) as well as to some general paediatric patients on the wards.

You will also act as the NHS England and Improvement embedded pharmacist for the Trust. You will work closely with the Commissioners, the Assistant Director of Pharmacy, Finance and Public Health to ensure arrangements for the use of out of tariff and high cost drugs are explicit, evidence based and that funding decisions are timely and consistent with commissioning intent bids.You will undertake data analysis, audit and submit reports to the Trust and Commissioners.

We are seeking a confident pharmacist with enthusiasm, drive and excellent communication skills, with substantial experience in direct delivery of clinical pharmacy services.

The ideal candidate should have a broad range of clinical pharmacy experience and an enthusiasm for improvement through collaboration.

Paediatric experience would be desirable but is not essential as training will be provided. A postgraduate qualification in clinical pharmacy is essential. Experience of working within inpatient hospital is essential. The post holder must either be an independent prescriber or willing to undertake the necessary training to become one.

The post will be based at Sheffield Children’s hospital which is one of only four independent specialist paediatric hospitals in the country. We provide dedicated healthcare for children and young people, including highly specialised health care such as neurosurgery, oncology, endocrinology, specialist orthopaedics, neonatal surgery, metabolic disease, gastroenterology, respiratory diseases, intensive care, cystic fibrosis and neurology. Our aim is to be at the forefront of best practice in delivering high quality and integrated care to children and young people.

You will join a pharmacy department with over 60 staff, including 23 other pharmacists with expertise in a wide range of specialities, in providing pharmacy services to children. You will be expected to participate in the full range of services provided by the pharmacy including clinical ward service, dispensary services, aseptic services and medicines information when required.

Candidates will be expected to participate in the department’s emergency duty rota, weekend & Bank Holiday rotas on a pro-rata basis.

This is customarily payable over 4 months as a salary deduction once employed by the Trust. If you receive a conditional offer letter, complete your DBS application and later withdraw from the recruitment process, an invoice will be raised via the Trust's finance department to recoup the outlay.
