Honorary Arts Psychotherapist - Secure Services

This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified Arts Psychotherapist to join an Arts Psychotherapies team to work in an honorary placement in Secure Inpatient Services in Fishponds, Bristol.

Fromeside provides a recovery focused medium secure service for 80 adults with complex mental health difficulties who have offended. Wickham Unit provides a low secure male service for 31 adults providing recovery focused rehabilitation service. There is scope for the post holder to work across these two units.

Both Units are purpose built and have designated therapy rooms for the Arts Psychotherapies within the Malago recovery centre.

Service Users in both units have experienced a range of mental health problems including psychosis, severe anxiety, depression, trauma and personality disorder.

The post holder will have the opportunity to gain experience in working as a member of an Arts Psychotherapies Team which includes Art, Drama and Music Psychotherapists. They will work to support the Arts Psychotherapists in planning and running group sessions across the service. There may also be the opportunity to engage in some individual assessment and ongoing treatment as part of psychological therapies provision across the service.

The post holder will be supported with Line management supervision, clinical supervision, appropriate training as well as opportunities to engage with the wider profession across the trust through CPD days and conferences.

The post holder will be supported to input into patients’ care pathway through attendance at PCR (Patient Care Review) and CPA (Care Pathway approach) meetings, offering the opportunity to work closely with other professions within the Multi-Disciplinary Team.

To apply, you will be registered with the Health and Care Professions’ Council and have an openness to working within teams. You will also have an interest in working in forensic adult mental health services and are able to offer a commitment for the duration of the placement.

The post will be one day a week for a minimum of 10 months. Working Wednesdays would be preferable to allow for team meetings although there is scope for flexibility. The post is unsalaried and is open to those wishing to gain experience in working in an Adult Mental Health setting.
