The Northern Care Alliance NHS Group (NCA) unites five local hospitals to deliver high quality care across the North East of Greater Manchester.

ELFS Shared Services (Darwen, BB3 0FG) – Head of Payroll Services

Agenda for Change Band 8C - £61,777 to £72,597

Due to the retirement of the current post holder we are looking to appoint a Head of Payroll Services to lead our successful Shared Service provision.

The successful candidate will lead a group of Payroll Client Managers and Payroll staff, who provide Payroll, Pensions and Expenses support to 23 NHS Clients and paying over 82,000 monthly paid staff, and producing over 1.2 million payslips annually.

All NHS Clients are paid by the Electronic Staff Record (ESR) system and you will lead a highly motivated and experienced Payroll team who are dedicated to the principle of providing high quality Payroll Service and 99.5% right first time accuracy.

You must have significant NHS Payroll experience, together with a full understanding of NHS Terms & Conditions, NHS Pension Scheme Regulations, and NEST schemes.

You will clearly demonstrate knowledge of business planning, performance improvement and change management principles. The ability to lead the team and managers to support the migration of new NHS Clients to ELFS is key. You must be able to build effective working relationships with directors, managers, colleagues and employees across all NHS Client’s and work collaboratively with Senior Finance and Systems colleagues within the Shared Services centre.

The Payroll Shared Service operates from purpose built offices at Viscount House, Darwen, which is adjacent to junction 4 services off the M65 at BB3 0FG.
