This is an exciting opportunity for a Consultant Cardiologist to join our team at Salford Royal Foundation Trust. The post offered is a full time position of 10 PAs.

This is a replacement post to further develop and expand the cardiac services provided at Salford Royal Hospital. It is expected that the successful applicant will be have CCST in general cardiology. A range of subspecialty interests will be considered; interest and skills in cardiac CT and / or cardiac MR would be desirable.

You will be expected to support and develop services locally, with neighbouring centres, and integrating cardiology service provision with Primary Care and the local community. You will also participate in general cardiology out-patient and in-patient services. There will be opportunities for research and quality improvement developments.

Our team provides specialist inpatient care on the Heart Care Unit and Heart Care Unit Stepdown and provides cardiology support to the rest of the Trust. We provide a comprehensive service with our consultants having subspecialty interests in intervention, devices, imaging and heart failure.

You will join the out of hours cardiology rota (1:7 basis) and you will be expected to participate in a consultant of the week working rota. Core components of the post will include 2 outpatient clinics and 2 – 3 subspecialty interest sessions. A draft job plan is included within the job description.

It is an exciting time for our service and we are looking for someone who is keen to support and develop our services and to work collaboratively with other specialties with overlapping clinical interests.

You would work alongside 7 consultants: Dr N Abidin, Dr A Cooper, Dr A Fitchet, Dr N Hussain, Dr J MacDonald, Dr G Freeman and Dr P Woolfson. You would also be supported by an excellent team of junior doctors, specialty doctors in cardiology, specialist registrars, advanced nurse practitioners, specialist nurses, secretarial and management.

The Trust provides a wide range of Tertiary and Secondary Services. It is a major Teaching Hospital and Foundation Trust having a total budget of £240 million, and 6,000 staff.
