Senior Systems Engineer - Networking

The Infrastructure Team is a fast paced and dynamic resource that provides the Trust with both ICT operational support and the ability to move forward with ground breaking technologies to better the lives of our patients, families and employees.

The primary purpose of the role is to manage, implement and advise on complex technical solutions and systems, being proactive and innovative to support the Trust's ambitious IT agenda. You’ll be providing direction, advice and liaising closely with the junior members of all the teams as well as senior department managers. You will need to have the ability to work autonomously and as part of a team in a very dynamic environment with commitment to provide an efficient and effective serviceYou’ll have operational experience of working in an ICT operations environment at a senior level within an infrastructure/technical team, along with good communication and customer service skills. You must have a methodical, yet flexible approach to your work and be able to exercise responsible judgement alongside being well organised and highly motivated.

We’re looking for someone with specific and current experience in Cisco and core networking technologies throughout the stack including networking for datacentres, SAN and firewalls who will be able to work with the current infrastructure towards building a resilient, redundant and scalable network for the future.

As a provider of Specialist Children’s Services, the Trust has wide ranging and complex requirements for networking that require both previous experience in the field with the need and want to constantly stay ahead of the curve. Due to the varied and dynamic nature of the environment you will be expected to develop in and provide cover for other areas outside the networking infrastructure.

Knowledge of working within the NHS and its systems would be beneficial but not essential. In return we will provide you with the opportunity to develop your skills and career in ICT within a supportive, exciting and evolving environment.

In line with other NHS Organisations in the Yorkshire and Humber Region a successful candidate appointed into a post within this Trust will be required to pay the DBS check fee (£45). This is customarily payable over 4 months as a salary deduction once employed by the Trust. If you receive a conditional offer letter, complete your DBS application and later withdraw from the recruitment process, an invoice will be raised via the Trust's finance department to recoup the outlay.
