The Northern Care Alliance NHS Group (NCA) unites five local hospitals to deliver high quality care across the North East of Greater Manchester.

The Alliance provides the benefits of scale but delivers this locally through multiple hospital sites which make up four new Care Organisations – Bury/Rochdale, North Manchester, Oldham and Salford. Using our mantra of ‘Saving lives, Improving lives’, the aim is for our Care Organisations to work closely with the communities they serve to deliver safe, high quality and reliable care, which are trusted, connected and pioneering.

Our Care Organisations are designed to operate within our group arrangement of hospitals, community and healthcare services which bring together over 17,000 staff and the services of The Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust and Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust. Our size and geographical reach means we are creating an environment each individual will be inspired and empowered by to be the best they can be. This is a really exciting time to join our new team.

The Emergency Assessment Unit is one of the largest in the country consisting of a 55 bedded unit with an Ambulatory Emergency area and a DVT clinic Monday to Friday. The Unit cares for patients from Salford and Trafford (and sometimes from other areas depending on the patient pathway). You will work collaboratively with the existing teams to provide continued plans of treatment for patients who have presented in the emergency department, been assessed initially and requiring further treatment. Our patients are mostly medical and ED, age range from 16 upwards. It is a fast paced area where skills are required to be able to assess, plan, implement and evaluate a high quality of care swiftly, accurately whilst demonstrating the Trusts four key Values and Behaviours. As an emergency assessment unit nurse you will need significant organisational skills and have the passion and drive to extend your nursing knowledge and enhance your nursing skills.

We are looking for a candidate with strong clinical skills, 12 months experience within acute medicine and a drive for innovation, change and service improvement. In return we offer great opportunities including education and leadership in order to aid your own professional development where shared learning is key. You will be supported by the Lead Nurse, Band 6 nurses, matrons, ENP colleagues and a Consultant team.

As well as gaining experience within our busy unit, there will be the opportunity to gain rotational experience in the Emergency Department, Medical Assessment Unit and Medical High Care, Pendleton Suite (nurse led complex discharge unit and M2 mixed medical if desired). Your career development is important to us; we can arrange for you to spend time working within another acute specialty area, or within primary care, to complement your interests and help you develop a professional portfolio.
