Clinical Pharmacist

This role is solely based in The Medicine Chest outpatient pharmacy and is not an NHS agenda for change contract. It is a Birmingham Children's Hospital Pharmacy Limited job.

Are you ready to take the next step in your career? We are seeking a clinically orientated pharmacist wanting to develop their skills and knowledge in Women’s Health & Paediatric Pharmacy. You will face the challenge of caring for patients from Neonate to 18 years within a wide range of Medical and Surgical specialities at Birmingham Children’s hospital and from womb to Adult at Birmingham Women’s Hospital.

An opportunity has arisen for an Outpatient Pharmacist to join the pharmacy team at Birmingham Women’s and Children’s Hospitals. You must have at least one year of post-registration hospital clinical experience or equivalent and preferably have a Postgraduate Diploma or be working towards the completion of the second year. Ideally some paediatric experience is required but in-job training and support from senior colleagues shall be provided.

The outpatient pharmacy is a busy environment which requires effective communication and leadership qualities. We are looking for a motivated individual with a “can do and will do” attitude to inspire the team and be able to maintain the high standards of operating a pharmacy as expected by the GPhC, the Trust and our patients.

The Pharmacy department is a busy but friendly department with excellent technical support and innovative service delivery. There are over a 100 staff employed by Pharmacy services across site including a team of over 20 Pharmacists including Specialist Pharmacists with extended roles.

The Pharmacy department has strong links with academia with opportunity for further education, teaching and research. The department has active research programmes in the fields of medicines optimisation, patient safety, antimicrobial stewardship and paediatric intensive care. Support will be provided for individuals to contribute to the Departments research or develop their own area with publication actively encouraged. The department works alongside local CCGs in order to facilitate the supply of unlicensed medicines to patients.

The post holder will be expected to participate in the extended hours, weekend and regular core duty rotas as appropriate.

Tier 2 Certificate of Sponsorship
