The North East London NHS Foundation Trust is looking for a dynamic, experienced and enthusiastic Consultant Community Paediatrician for Barking and Dagenham, to join a team of 3 other Consultant Community Paediatricians and 2 non consultant paediatricians (specialty doctors) working within an integrated specialist children’s service in a progressive and integrated Community Paediatric service. In addition, the service is supported by 2 full time specialty trainees (level 2&3).

The successful candidate would be taking the lead role as Named doctor for Looked after children and also Medical advisor to Adoption & Fostering. In addition, the post holder would be expected to contribute to Neurodisability clinics and child protection on call rota. The type of Neurodisability clinics will be allocated to suit the competencies and interests of the post holder whilst meeting the needs of the service. The post will be supported by the Designated doctor for Looked after children, clinical lead for Community Paediatrics and Associate Medical director. In addition, NELFT consultants benefit from regular Pan-Nelft Peer supervision, Peer review meetings.

Barking & Dagenham specialist community paediatric services are based at Child and Family Centre, 79 Axe Street, Barking, IG11 7LZ, and part of an integrated multidisciplinary team housing Community paediatricians, Children and Adolescent Mental Health Teams, Specialist Neurodisability Nursing Team, Paediatric therapists, clinical Psychologist and Nursery nurse.

NELFT is proud to be an agile working Trust with excellent IT support enabling employees including clinicians to work flexibly providing a family friendly work culture. Post Holder will be provided with an Agile working device and will have access to Medical Secretary/PA based at The Child and Family Centre, Axe Street, Barking, Essex.

There is no out-of-hours on-call commitment with this post. The post holder will contribute to the daytime weekly child protection rota. This would include assessment of children referred for suspected child abuse and supervision of trainees/colleagues.
