CONSULTANT POST IN COMMUNITY PAEDIATRICS

FULL TIME/ PART TIME WILL BE CONSIDERED

Due to service reengineering the Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is looking to appoint a Consultant Community Paediatrician. The post holder will join a friendly and supportive team of nine Consultants, six Specialty Doctor Grade/Associate Specialist doctors and two trainees in community paediatrics.

The post is locality based within Derbyshire County, mostly covering the South Derbyshire area, and will provide consultant leadership to the non-consultant doctors in this locality. There will be a specialist component to the post which we are anticipating being Medical Education, however other options can be explored with the clinical director upon application.

The post holder will provide a generic local service as part of a team of doctors within the patches, working closely with nursing, therapy and other medical services as well as input into the Looked After Children Service as necessary. Involvement in child protection work and Child Death Rapid Response visits are carried out on a rota basis which includes an out of hours element.

Community child health services are well integrated with both primary and acute secondary care and the local health community works closely together. There is good multiagency working with Derby City and Derbyshire County Council local authorities. Teaching is provided to medical students from the University of Nottingham and the graduate entry medical school in Derby and you may be asked to undertake clinic based teaching. Derby is a postgraduate academic unit linked to the University of Nottingham Medical School and there is an Academic Child Health Unit based in Derby.

We continue to look at ways to evolve our service to improve joined up care and develop new interdisciplinary ways of working and are looking for enthusiastic and motivated candidates to join us in this.
